How Therapy Can Help You
Therapy is an opportunity to understand your feelings, behaviors, and thoughts in a different way. What we’ve learned over the years is that everybody will likely benefit from counseling. Admittedly, as therapists, we are exceptionally biased, but we are also very experienced. Mental health counseling is likely the most accurate and safest way to really ‘see’ yourself and your life. It allows you to understand the ways in which your experiences in life are filling you up, as well as the things that are holding you back and disempowering you. But sometimes what a person is experiencing may not qualify for a mental health diagnosis.
We have a new pandemic: STRESS. It is not so much the stress in the world, although that is significant, but how that stress has managed to invade our body and brain and impact our physiology. The modality I use the most frequently is called Emotional Brain Training. EBT goes to the root cause of an issue. Once discovered, I teach the person to rewire their brain. The chronic secretion of cortisol is something I address and then I give you tools to use to diminish that stress. Once you are comfortable using the tools, I essentially work myself out of a job.
